Would you like to help children and adults afflicted by a rare neglected disease which causes them pain when they eat?  

We are looking for a fundraising researcher/ bid writer to help us raise funds to support them and improve their medical treatment.  

Description 

EOS Network is a British based rare disease charity with a global reach working with both patients and healthcare professionals. 

OUR MISSION: Is to ensure that every person with an Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease receives a prompt accurate diagnosis, the right treatment for them, and support to live with their condition. 

We have a strategy and lots of initiatives to increase disease awareness, access to care and to develop resources to support patients and their families, but we are in urgent need of the funds to make them happen. That’s why we are looking for a volunteer to join our fundraising team. 

We would love to hear from you if researching and persuasive writing is what you really enjoy. Equally, if researching is your thing, but not the writing (or vice-versa) we'd still like to hear from you as it would be possible to split the role into the two separate components and have two people working alongside each other. 

You may or may not have experience of charity fundraising, but you will be self-driven and enjoy working autonomously with the support of a small team of people, all as dedicated as you are. You will be communicating with the team through zoom and email whilst working remotely with Amanda the charity founder and lead.   

We need a commitment of at least 3 hours a week on average, times and days can be flexible to fit around other commitments. 

Your expertise and enthusiasm will be invaluable in ensuring everyone with an Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease can eat without pain.  

Person specification/description  

As a fundraising researcher/ bid writer you will need: 

• Ability to search databases and identify appropriate prospects 
• Ability to understand and appeal to funders’ differing needs  
• Creative and persuasive written and spoken communication skills 

• Ability to organise your own work, track and report back regularly 
• Determination to get the job done 
• A sensitive thoughtful approach to chronic health issues/rare or invisible diseases 
• To be a reliable team player with a positive can-do or willing to learn attitude with a sense of humour and an ability to smile in the face of adversity   

Previous experience in fundraising research or bid writing for trusts and foundations would be helpful. 

Or you may have marketing, strategy, content writing or storytelling expertise and be looking to learn a new skill for which we can provide the necessary training.  

As a fundraising researcher/ bid writer, you will: 

• Identify sources of funding where we fit their criteria 
• Write appropriately tailored funding bids 
• Track all funding applications 

• Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing and potential funders 
• Report on grant usage and impact
