Little Arleigh has had the worst three years of her life, from the day she was born, she suffered from eczema and reflux symptoms. She has been hospitalised for infections in her skin numerous times, which is due to a condition affecting both her bowel and immune system.

In March 2021 we finally got answers for her.

a little boy feeding his newborn sisterAfter the 3 difficult years, my 3-year-old Granddaughter was diagnosed with eosinophilic colitis (EG), a rare gastrointestinal immune-driven disease that affects around 3.3 people in 100,000. This condition is a part of the spectrum of diseases known as Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Diseases. (EGIDS).

Among others, EG symptoms in young children include diarrhoea, loss of appetite, problems swallowing, stomach pain, difficulties gaining weight, poor growth, anaemia and fatigue.

Arleigh in hospital

Currently, there is no known cure and no approved treatments.

Sadly this disease means Arleigh is unable to eat a normal diet and often leaves her too unwell to attend nursery with her friends. Please help me support EOS Network and their important work by sponsoring my half marathon.

EOS Network is a voluntary run charity, 100% of donations fund their mission to ensure that every person with an EGID receives a prompt, accurate diagnosis, the right treatment for them, and support to live with their condition.

I've raised £472 participating in this half marathon.

What EOS Network Does To Raise Awareness And Advance Care

  • We provide information and support for people with EGIDS their families and carers, through our community hub, resources and events.
  • We provide a global platform for clinicians and researchers to connect and share the latest research and best evidence-based practice.
  • We provide educational resources and events for healthcare professionals to help them recognise symptoms and diagnose and treat EGIDS.
  • We work with patients and their carers, medical bodies, manufacturers and funders to ensure the patient’s voice is heard for decisions about treatment guidelines, and the development and availability of medicines.

Your sponsorship helps secure the vision of a world where everyone with an Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease can eat without pain.

100% of your donations help make a difference with every step Angela ran, thank you!
