This year, the EOS Network had the pleasure of exhibiting and participating in UEG Week 2025, one of the world's leading international gastroenterology events. The event brought together more than 12,000 experts, researchers, and patient advocates united by a shared goal: improving outcomes and quality of life for people affected by gastrointestinal diseases.
UEG Week provides an invaluable opportunity for EOS Network to ensure the patient voice is heard at the heart of international discussions on Eosinophilic-Associated Diseases (EADs).
EOS Network had the opportunity to present our work and share its impact on patients’ lives.

Scientific Highlights and Key Discussions

The conference featured an exceptional range of posters, presentations, and discussions on eosinophilic diseases of the oesophagus and beyond, covering the latest in diagnosis, treatment options, and ongoing research.
UEG Week EOS-related key themes and discussions included:
  • Transition of care for children with EoE as they move into adult services.
  • New treatment approaches, including the promising data from the Resolve study on fluticasone injected directly into the oesophagus during endoscopy as a long-term EoE therapy.
  • Long-term biological therapy options for EoE.
  • Future options to measure the fibrous impact of EoE were discussed, including a presentation by Catherine Sykes, Clinical Scientist at The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, on the SWALLeOeW Study — a study we had supported with patient and public involvement (PPIE).
It was a pleasure to meet one of our members, Prof. Margaret Collins, who recently led an expert educational session on gut biopsies, eosinophils, and mast cells.

Advocacy and Collaboration

Beyond scientific discussions, EOS Network was honoured to participate in key patient advocacy meetings aimed at improving care pathways and support for people living with eosinophilic conditions. Our insights helped bridge the gap between children's and adult care and research, clinicians and policy makers.

At the UEG Public Affairs Round Table, our CEO and founder, Amanda Cordell, joined international colleagues to represent the patient community in research and policy advocacy. They discussed the vital role of the patient perspective in shaping research, policy, treatments, and services from concept to approval and delivery.

EOS Network also took part in the ESPGHAN Public Affairs Meeting, which focused on transition in gastroenterology, ensuring that the move from paediatric to adult services supports continuity of holistic care.

During the week, EOS Network also took part in the EUREOS General Assembly, where Alfredo Lucendo officially handed over the EUREOS Presidency to Ulrike von Arnim. We warmly congratulate Dr Ulrike von Arnim and wish her every success in her new role, and extend our sincere thanks to Alfredo for his dedication and achievements over the past four years.

EUREOS Key themes and discussions included:

  • The evolving understanding of Type 2 inflammatory conditions (such as asthma, eczema, and rhinitis) and their relationship with EoE, supporting a systemic and holistic approach to early recognition of symptoms, treatment, and care.
  • The need for a practical, simplified option for standardisation in biopsy scoring for EoE and Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Diseases (EGIDs) across pathology labs. Experts discussed whether simplifying scoring systems, such as HSS and ISEE, could enable more consistent and practical protocols without losing valuable clinical detail.

Growing The Global Professional EOS Network

UEG Week 2025 also marked growth for our professional community. We were delighted to welcome 30 new professional members to our expanding network, a testament to the increasing recognition of eosinophilic diseases in the gastroenterology field.

Our global network continues to provide evidence-based, patient-centred resources and tools to help professionals deliver informed, holistic care.

We were also delighted to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr Salvatore Oliva, recipient of the UEG Rising Stars Award, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to eosinophilic research.
