In collaboration with European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN), this summary guide defines what may be happening inside the tummy, what different symptoms can feel like, and what children can expect during diagnosis, treatment, and everyday life with Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders (EGIDs). ESPGHAN is a multidisciplinary, non-profit organisation dedicated to improving children’s health, with a particular focus on gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional conditions.

EGIDs symptoms can sometimes feel confusing, worrying, or frustrating, especially for children and young people trying to enjoy school, hobbies, friendships, and everyday life.

This co-developed tool can help facilitate supportive conversations with young patients and the vital people in their support system, helping them understand EGIDs.

Download the summary - covering key topics:

  • Understanding and living with EGIDs
  • Key Signs and Symptoms
  • Different types of EGIDs
  • How this condition is managed

EGID is a long-term condition, but children with EGIDs can still enjoy life, go to school, play sports, spend time with friends, and do the things they love. With the right support, treatment, and understanding they can live confidently and thrive.

This resource has been co-developed with patients, healthcare professionals, and service providers, reflecting lived experiences and addressing the real needs of the community.
