12th Biennial Symposium of the International Eosinophil Society Mark your calendars for the 12th Biennial Symposium of the International Eosinophil Society (IES) on July 11-15, 2023. The event will occur at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Hamilton boasts several attractions, such as the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, the Bruce Trail, McMaster University, Mohawk College, and Redeemer University. McMaster University is highly regarded and ranked 4th in Canada and 69th globally by the Times Higher Education Rankings in 2021. The IES Biennial Symposium is a top-tier gathering for scientists and clinicians interested in eosinophils and eosinophilic diseases. The event showcases new research findings on the production of eosinophils, their trafficking, and their effector functions, and using animal models to explore the importance and roles of the eosinophil in health and disease.Additionally, the Symposium features translational studies of animal model findings in patient-oriented research and the development of new therapies for eosinophil-associated diseases. General Sessions General sessions will cover a range of topics, including state-of-the-art presentations that provide a comprehensive overview of specific subjects, cutting-edge presentations showcasing the latest advances in research, and oral abstract presentations featuring highly scored abstracts. Engaging in breakfast breakouts, pro/con debates, and roundtable discussions will create dynamic opportunities for interaction and knowledge exchange among attendees. Breakfast Breakouts are scheduled to take place from 7:00 am – 8:00 am on 12, 13 and 14 July. Pro/Con Debates are scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, 15 July. Each speaker will be given 15 minutes for opening remarks and 5 minutes for a rebuttal. This will be followed by 20 minutes of audience Q&A and voting. Roundtable Discussions are scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, 15 July Ask an Expert Poster Sessions The symposium will also showcase "Ask an Expert" poster sessions, where leading experts in eosinophil-related methodologies will share protocols and methodologies. Abstract slams will challenge presenters to explain why the work is important, provocative, and/or novel in 180 seconds, while poster sessions will offer a visual display of research findings and opportunities for engaging discussions. The Abstract Slams will take place before the poster sessions on Wednesday, 12 July and Thursday, 13 July.
