EoE - Eosinophilic Oesophagitis

EoE Eosinophilic Oesophagitis (EoE) is a chronic condition where an individual has too many of a white blood cell called an eosinophil in the oesophagus, which causes inflammation and difficulties swallowing.

When abnormal levels of eosinophils are found in your digestive system (oesophagus, stomach or intestine/bowel), tissues, blood or other organs without a known cause/diagnosis, further consideration should be given to eosinophilic - associated diseases.

What is an eosinophil?

The eosinophil has many varied roles some of which are yet to be discovered. Current research shows that they can be both helpful and harmful. In a healthy individual typically 1 to 5% of white blood cells are eosinophils which play an important role in your immune system.
