New Screening Tool to Enhance Diagnosis and Management of T2 Inflammation Disorders A multidisciplinary team of specialists in pulmonology, dermatology, immunology, allergology, and otorhinolaryngology has developed a tailored screening questionnaire for Type 2 (T2) inflammation diseases. Designed for use across all levels of healthcare, this tool helps identify key symptoms such as wheezing in asthma, nasal obstruction in chronic rhinosinusitis, skin reactions in dermatitis and food impaction in Eosinophilic Oesophagitis (EoE). The tool facilitates more accurate diagnoses and better collaboration among medical professionals by enabling early detection. What is T2 Inflammation? T2 inflammation is a key eosinophilic-associated immune response that helps protect the body. However, when this response becomes dysregulated, it can change the body functions and lead to inflammation symptoms in various diseases, such as eosinophilic associated diseases (EADs), atopic allergy-related conditions like asthma, hayfever/allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, eczema/atopic dermatitis and eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases (EGIDs). These conditions often share similar underlying mechanisms, which explains why they frequently occur together. Patients have highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in managing T2-related diseases. Since mild cases can go unnoticed and multiple conditions often coexist, healthcare professionals require tools that encourage better communication and collaboration across specialities. Conclusion Many T2 inflammation-related diseases often occur together in the same patient. However, less severe diseases are often overlooked, which delays the diagnosis. This study reviewed key symptoms of eight T2-driven diseases and introduced a simple, quick questionnaire that can be used in any healthcare setting. The researchers conclude that this tool will help detect T2 involvement earlier, allowing clinicians to recognise and manage these conditions as a group. Amanda Cordell, CEO & Founder, EOS Network: This screening tool represents a significant step in improving the future diagnosis and cohesive management of T2 inflammation-related Eosinophilic-Associated Diseases (EADs). EADs share underlying inflammatory mechanisms with other T2-mediated diseases, and using this holistic approach would enhance early detection, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and improve patient outcomes through more comprehensive care. Many of our community members struggle with living with multi-system T2 EAD diseases. Jake's personal story exemplifies the difficulties faced when navigating these complexities and demonstrates how being medically cared for as a whole person can make a positive impact.
